4 more areas in Guwahati declared as 'Containment Zone'. Complete list here

An area is typically declared as a Containment Zone after detection of Covid-19 positive cases and then sealed off

Guwahati: Amid a rapid surge in the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Guwahati city, four more areas in Birubari, Barsapara, Athgaon Pukhuri Par, and Kushal Nagar in Bamunimoidam have been declared as containment zone by the district administration of Kamrup (Metro) on June 11.

After the detection of Covid-19 positive cases, the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu directed the circle officer of Guwahati revenue circle, to seal the four areas with immediate effect.

The boundaries of the containment zone in Birubari in Guwahati are as follows:

North: Kali Mandir Path

South: Bir Chilarai Path

East: Professor Colony

West: R.K. Mission

The boundaries of the containment zone in Barsapara in Guwahati are as follows:

North: Residence of Suman Bihula

South: Residence of Md. Monsur

East: Bhupen Hazarika Path

West: Residence of Maniuk Talukdar

The boundaries of the containment zone in Athgaon Pukhuri Par are as follows:

North: Athgaon Pukhuri

South: Kali Mandir

East: Athgaon Kabarsthan

West: Residence of Sri Mukunda Sarkar

The boundaries of the containment zone in Kushal Nagar in Bamunimoidam are as follows:

North: Kushalnagar Road

South: Faculty HS School

East: Residence of Dimbeswar Das and Jyotish Tamuly

West: Residence of Guru Das and others

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier in the day, a containment zone area in Panbazar locality was extended after the detection of more Covid-19 cases. After the detection of more Covid-19 cases in Arihant apartment of Panbazar in Guwahati city, the Deputy Commissioner Biswajeet Pegu decreed that all the shops, and business establishments located on Colonel J. Ali Road from City Pharmacy Point to Railgate no. 2 at Lakhtokia have been barred from operating for the next 7 days. Any violation of this order would attract penal provisions under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Assam Covid-19 regulations, 2020, the DC said.

With the discharge of 183 patients earlier today, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Assam now stands at 1,878. Six persons have died so far from complications due to the respiratory illness.
