TINSUKIA: Tinsukia district recorded four more COVID deaths on Sunday and Monday. While 53-year old Baisakhi Dey of Borpathar Tinsukia succumbed to her infection at AMCH Dibrugarh on Sunday, Prashanti Mitra (45), a resident of GNB Road (opposite Lotus Academy), Doomdooma died at her residence on Monday morning. A Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) performed on her after death detected her to be COVID positive. She was suffering from mild fever since the past two days, besides various ailments. Pushpa Roy (75) of Durgabari Tinsukia and Ajoy Mahato (35) of Raja Ali Road, Tinsukia both died at AMCH Dibrugarh on Monday.

Meanwhile, the number of positive cases in Tinsukia district is on the rise. With the detection of fresh 114 positive cases on Sunday and Monday, the number spiked to 1,014. The reliability of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) has been questioned as persons found positive by swab test, tested negative in RAT the next day and were released from the hospital.
