DOOMDOOMA: In the 40th installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Doomdooma held on Thursday at Barhapjan, held under the president ship of Rotarian (Rtn) Sujit Kumar Baruah, charge was handed over to the new office-bearers for 2020 -21 by observing COVID-19 protocol.
Past Assistant Governor of Zone 12 Rtn. Dhiren Deka acted as an installation officer and installed the new board of directors of the club with Rtn Vikash Agarwal as president and Rtn. Mintu Upadhyay as secretary. The outgoing president Rtn. Sujit Kumar Baruah in his address highlighted the various achievements of the club like hands-on Science and Mathematics for school students being executed under global matching grant, nation builders award to six school teachers under Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) and proposed installation of sanitary napkin vending machine in girls' school out of Rotary's WINS programme. The secretarial report was read out by outgoing secretary Rtn. Vikash Agarwal.
Rtn Bibhu Das and Rtn. Mintu Upadhyay, who were adjudged as the best Rotarian of the club, were specially awarded by the outgoing president Sujit Kumar Baruah. Rtn. Bhupen Borgohain was the recipient of the President's special award for being the first one to pay the club dues. A new member, Raj Kumar Rai was inducted in the meeting. Two children of Rotary members, Anamriya Baruah, daughter of Rtn. Sujit Kumar Baruah, and Rani Agarwal, daughter of Rtn. Sandip Agarwal, were felicitated in the meeting for their achievement in examination.
