4,874 bottles of cough syrup seized in Dhubri district

Based on a tipoff, Agomoni Police seized a huge cache of cough syrup from a vehicle on Friday night in Dhubri district.

DHUBRI: Based on a tipoff, Agomoni Police seized a huge cache of cough syrup from a vehicle on Friday night in Dhubri district.

Police sources informed that the cache of cough syrup was recovered from a Bolero pickup van (WB-63B 22320 that the Police had intercepted in front of the Agomoni Police Station along the National Highway-17.

The seized 4,874 bottles of 'Codeine phospate' cough syrup were concealed under rice bags.

The police arrested two persons allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The duo has been identified as Rofiqul Miya and Amir Hussain of Ghugumari Hawagari Village under the Cooch-Bihar district of West Bengal.

A case (304/21 u/s 22-C/29 NDPS Act) has been registered in Agomoni Police Station
