498th Sati Sadhani Smriti Divas observed in Lakhimpur district

The 498th Smriti Divas of Verrangana Sati Sadhani was observed in a befitting manner in Dhakuakhana subdivision

LAKHIMPUR: The 498th Smriti Divas of Verrangana Sati Sadhani was observed in a befitting manner in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district on Thursday. The event was organized under the auspices of Dhakuakhana district unit of Chutia Jati Sanmilan, Chutia Yuva Sanmilan Chutia Jati Mahila Sanmilan in association with the subdivisional unit of Chutia Students' Union and the Dhakuakhana Headquarter units of the organizations at Sadhani Bhawan.

The agenda of the event began with the garlanding of the portrait of Sati Sadhani. It was followed by Deu-Kuber Puja performed by Bordeuri Dimbeswar Borah and Sarudeuri Bidyut Chutia.

In connection with the event, a statue of Sati Sadhani, with 8 feet height, was inaugurated. The statue was inaugurated by Arindam Baruah, the ADC of Lakhimpur-cum-SDO (Civil) of Dhakuakhana. Then various cultural group presented 'Sadhani Bandana' and Chutia Bihu.

The open session of the event commenced with Gangeswar Barbaruah in the chair. It was inaugurated by Arindam Baruah who threw light on the valour, patriotism and supreme sacrifice of Sati Sadhani for motherland. Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Inspector of Schools, Lakhimpur Ramesh Chandra Chutia Sodou Chutia Jati Sanmilan general secretary Haren Chutia, Dhakuakhana OBC Board chairperson Kushal Gogoi, Chutia Development Council Member Nripen Khanikar, Dhakuakhana Municipal Board Executive Officer Abhijat Baruah and many other dignitaries of the Chutia community organizations delivered lectures attending the event as guests of honour.
