LAKHIMPUR: The 534th birth anniversary of Mahapurush Madhavdev, the luminous icon of spirituality who was the chief disciple of Srimanta Sankardev, was observed at his birthplace at Rangajan Ujiror Tol in Lakhimpur district. The event was organized by Srimanta Sankardev Sangha with a two-day long programme on Monday and Tuesday.
Simultaneously, the golden jubilee celebration of the Kherajkhat regional unit of the organization was also organized along with the same event. On both days, the birthplace of the spiritual icon turned to be a heavenly abode with the blended notes of Harinam and congregation of thousands of devotees. The agenda of the concluding day of the event began with Pratah Prasanga in the early morning. Then a cleanliness drive was initiated by the members of the Bihpuria-Narayanpur district committee Sewa Bahini. Bihpuria-Narayanpur district committee Srimanta Sankardev Sangha secretary Brojen Saikia, Lakhimpur district committee secretary Prafulla Konwar, Madhavdev's birthplace management committee secretary Shivaram Borah inaugurated a massive plantation drive.
