54,000 people reeling under flood in Tinsukia district

Due to a fresh wave of flood, 73 villages were inundated in Tinsukia district, reports District Disaster Management

DOOMDOOMA: Due to a fresh wave of flood, 73 villages were inundated in Tinsukia district, reports District Disaster Management Authority. While altogether 53, 914 people in Doomdooma, Sadiya and Tinsukia Revenue Circles have been affected in the flood, total area of crop land damaged is yet to be estimated. So far there are no reports of any death of any human being.

A total of 5,264 animals (big and small) have been estimated to be affected by the floods. The number of poultry affected by the flood has been estimated at 1,116 numbers. All total 24 relief camps have been opened by the district administration (Doomdooma - 1, Sadiya - 4 and Tinsukia - 19). In Doomdooma Legislative Assembly Constituency the Ward No.3 of Harijan Gaon Panchayat the flood water of Dangori river has submerged 43 families. According to the villagers, they have experienced this type of devastating flood after a gap of 43 years since 1977. MLA Durga Bhumij visited the flood affected areas on Sunday and assured the people of supplying relief materials soon. They alleged that nobody from administration has visited them.
