HAILAKANDI: Six fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in South Assam's Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 614.

Health authorities here disclosed that Amaduddin Choudhury, 22, Abdul Hoque Laskar 26, Saleh Ahmed Laskar, 40, Sheijang Chongloi, 37,

Niranjan Sharma, 25, and Nur Md.Ali have turned out to be positive.

Of the six infected, two were under facility quarantine centre at Jamira High School, two police personnel of Katlicherra Police Station, one at Borbond, Lala and a lab technician at Dholeswari Inbound Passenger Facilitation Centre.

A total of 17 policemen of the district have been infected with the disease.

Two have been admitted at MG COVID-19 Model Hospital, one at Algapur COVID-19 Model Hospital, one at HPC COVID Care Centre and one at SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital.

19 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals on Wednesday, taking the total number of discharged persons to 370. There are presently 236 active cases in the district.

Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 1,538 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 5,642 persons under home quarantine as on Wednesday.

Of the 11,917 swab samples taken, 9,667 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 905 persons are awaited.

Joint Director, Health Services, Dr.A Barman revealed that 22 positive cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test while 63 positive cases found under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Program so far.

Meanwhile, the administration has notified JNV facility quarantine centre as COVID Care Centre, taking the number of such centres to six.
