60-Year-Old Man arrested for Rape in Assam, Three Others Accused

Along with him, three other persons were accused of this horrific act but are still escaping from custody

GUWAHATI: A 60-year-old man got arrested by police officials on Monday in the Kamrup district of Assam. He was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on Sunday. Along with him, three other persons were accused of this horrific act but are still escaping from custody.

As per the sources, the old man has been recognized as Habibur Rahman, whereas the other three have been identified as Abdul Mannan, Samsher Ali, and Mazid Ali.

The Santoli Police informed that the incident took place at Jawkatadia village in Boko town in Kamrup district. The police stated, as per the complaint, that the woman was taken to a paddy field and raped by those three men when she went out with them in the guise of loaning her cash. Afterward, the three carried the woman to Habibur's house where they kept on raping her there.

Apparently, the local people rescued the woman from Habibur's house and from that point, lodged a complaint against them. The police further said that when a police group arrived at Habibur's place on Monday after the complaint was gotten, Abdul, Samsher, and Mazid had already escaped from the spot.

A few days back, a 65-year-old man was suspected of raping and killing a nine-year-old child in Assam's Morigaon, who was shot by police as he attempted to escape from police custody. GP Singh, the Special DGP of the Assam Police, said that the accused was taken to reproduce the crime location where he tried to escape from the police custody on the pretext of answering nature's call. To prevent his departure, the police fired two rounds because of which the rape accused suffered light injuries.
