DHUBRI: Social activist Simul Sarkar of Dhubri town has been fighting against anti-social activities and working for the welfare of people for last 30 years. At the age of 60 he is serving in a private company and during his leisure time he works for the welfare of people. From demanding civic amenities and providing medical assistance to raising voice against corruption, Sarkar over the years has become the voice of the voiceless.

Sarkar and his small team of social activists recently visited Dhubri Civil Hospital and saw the filthy condition inside every ward in it. Recently Sarkar and his team exposed the corruption in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and in Dhubri Revenue Circle office, resulting in arrests and transfer of several officials.

Talking to The Sentinel, Simul Sarkar informed that the Dhubri Civil Hospital had long been in the grip of touts who not only call the shots in every matter, but also dupe poor patients in the name of managing everything for them. "There is shortage of physicians, medicines, paramedic staff and cleaners. The corridors and toilets are unhygienic," he alleged.
