62 fresh COVID cases detected in Karimganj

Karimganj reported 62 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 5,856, stated a press release.

KARIMGANJ: Karimganj reported 62 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 5,856, stated a press release.

Of the 62 active cases detected on Sunday, 54 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test and eight under RT-PCR. The district has altogether 710 active COVID-19 cases while 48 patients have been discharged from hospital and home isolation on Sunday. Total 1,227 swab samples were collected on Sunday. Altogether 2,49,134 samples have been tested so far.

Total 21 persons with high risk contacts were traced and tested on Sunday.

Five containment zones came up in Karimganj town on Sunday. Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Anbamuthan MP took the initiative to transfer the vaccine centre from the government hospital to the office of the District Sports. "The steps taken by the district authorities will help to reduce the general problems that crop up with vaccines," said an official.
