KOKRAJHAR: The historic 62nd session of the central committee, Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and 48th convention of Kokrajhar district BSS will kickstart with a four-day colourful programme at Rani Kalaishree Fwthar, Patgaon in the Kokrajhar district from February 23. Delegates from various parts of Assam, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Nepal will attend the programme. As part of the programme, the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka will inaugurate the Harendranath Brahma main gate on February 23 followed by inauguration of Mouzadar Jagat Chandra Mushahary main pandal by MLA Lawrence Islary, who is also the president of the reception committee. The Dimbeswar Narzary memorial delegate hall will be inaugurated by Dukeswar Brahma, retired headmaster of Patgaon ME School, while Umesh Chandra Mushahary Exhibition hall will be inaugurated by Kokrajhar SP, Puspraj Singh, followed by inauguration of Manimahan Brahma Dining Hall and Jageswar Bawsumatary Market by Phanindra Mushahary, retired headmaster of Patgaon ME School, and Baneswar Basumatary, president of Kokrajhar district BSS respectively.
Meanwhile, Alariswrang Boys’ Volunteers’ camp and Bharati Brahma Girls’ Volunteers’ camp will be inaugurated by Thanindra Brahma, headmaster of UN Brahma High School, and Dr Gargoram Mohilary, veterinary doctor of Patgaon. The Satish Chandra Mushahary Medical camp will be inaugurated by Dr Saiko Basumatary of Patgaon State Dispensary while Ganda Khungur Basumatary and Laoga Basumatary memorial delegate camp will be inaugurated by Meswarsing Basumatary, working president of the Reception Committee.
Meanwhile, the Dhajendranath Brahma (pioneer of Bodo sonnet) Guest House will be inaugurated by Narayan Chandra Basumatary, retired headmaster of Patgaon High School.
On the last day, Alok Mehta, senior journalist and writer of New Delhi will attend the open session as chief guest while Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the open session. Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro and cabinet minister UG Brahma will attend the open meeting as distinguished guests.
Sources from BSS said over 6,000 delegates from across the State, BTC, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Nepal will take part in the BSS session. A new executive body of the BSS will be formed in the historic session.
