64th BN SSB organised mega plantation drive in Baksa district

The 64 Battalion of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) Barama, organised a ‘Mega Plantation’ drive as a part of the ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (To celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence).

BAKSA: The 64 Battalion of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) Barama, organised a 'Mega Plantation' drive as a part of the 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (To celebrate 75 years of India's Independence).

On the occasion, Commandant of 64 BN SSB Nand Kishore Tamta informed that ''the Battalion has achieved its target to plant 15,500 saplings during this year. We will plant additional saplings during the remaining period for the success of 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' programme. With the help of local people, we are also ensuring the safety and security of the planted saplings. During this plantation drive long life trees as well as seasonal fruit trees were given priority.''

Tamta also thanked the Forest department, NGOs, and other government agencies as well as the local people for helping this BN to achieve its target. This plantation drive was conducted in the nearby areas of 64 BN HQ Howly as well as in the AOR of its BoPs i.e., Daranga, Patkijuli, Sukhanjuli, Amguri, Uttarkuchi and Dara of Baksa District.

Tamta also said that ''as a part of the 'Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', we are organising multiple programmes in addition to plantation drive i.e. Fit India Movement, Cycle Rally, Civic action programmes etc. Sandeep Poonia, Deputy Commandant and all ranks participated in the programme.
