TINSUKIA: The 64th foundation day of Tinsukia College was observed with the unveiling of the half bust of three luminaries of Assam- Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Dr Bhupen Hazarika - in the college premises on Tuesday in presence of a limited gathering of guests, students, faculty members and former teachers.
Three former teachers of the college- vice principals Dr Jyoti Prasad Chaliha and Dr Apurba Bhaskar Gogoi and Bontimala Devi - after unveiling the statues, individually spoke about contribution of these doyens in Assamese culture and literature in relevance to present context. Synchronizing with the event, Dr Sanat Dutta, son of former Principal Saroj Kumar Dutta, donated few concrete benches in memory of his father inside the Golden Jubilee Park of the college.
The programme also witnessed release of the 45th issue of the college magazine Monisha, edited by Samiran Baruah, magazine secretary of Tinsukia College Students' Union, by Dr Girish Handique, former president of Tinsukia district committee of Axam Xahitya Xabha. Earlier, Dr Surjya Chetia hoisted the college and the programme culminated with condolence and homage to former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
