6th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Social workers greeted in Digboi

Workers from the various segments such as sweepers, cleaning workers work hard to keep the city clean, says MLA Suren Phukan

Digboi: A meeting was held on Saturday at Municipal Assembly Hall on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The event was organized to honour the social workers and greet them with an award who works day and night to keep the city clean.

Digboi MLA Suren Phukan and the members of the Municipal corporation were present on the occasion.

MLA Suren Phukan said, "workers from various sectors such are sweepers, cleaning workers work hard to keep the city clean."Thanking the workers he said he respect them for what they do. Without them, the entire town will be full of filth and dirt and its people would not get a healthy environment.

The MLA further said the major problem of Digboi was a shortage of water and for that, he sanctioned a project worth Rs 40 crore from the Central government under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP leader Rameshwar Teli, and soon the work will start to resolve this problem.

He said "we are trying to make the city a notable city of Assam in the upcoming days."
