73rd Van Mahotsav: Tree plantation drive conducted at Nagaon Borghat bypass Chariali

NAGAON: As part of the ongoing celebration of the 73rd 'Van Mahotsav' across the State, Nagaon Forest Divisions (Territory, wildlife and Social forestry) in association with district administration as well as Nagaon Lions Club on Tuesday ceremonially conducted a tree plantation drive at Nagaon Borghat bypass Chariali.

During the drive, the department concerned as well as Lions Club planted over a thousand various local trees containing fruits in the park constructed by Nagaon Lions Club at Borghat bypass Chariali. Besides, the department concerned also planted other saplings of various flower species with enclosures and nets for beautification at the entry point towards the small town near the road circle.

Similarly, the department concerned also distributed saplings of various local trees containing fruits and flowers among the local people and students and urged them to lead a massive plantation in and around their respective homes to keep a green environment so that the flora and fauna can be sustained in their localities. Simultaneously, the department concerned also took initiatives to distribute saplings of various local trees among students in almost all range offices under the division during the day and pledged to plant more trees on the campus of their respective educational institutions.

Earlier, a sensitization programme on eco-friendly environment was also organized at Nagaon Borghat bypass. Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of Nowgong College (autonomous) chaired the programme while Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon Nisarg Hivare graced the occasion as chief guest.
