LAKHIMPUR: North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) commemorated its former president Nanda Kishor Maheswari observing his 74th birth anniversary as 'Bhaskarya aru Shilpar Din' on Sunday.

Notably, late Nanda Kishor Maheswari was the president of the NLPC from 2005 to 2012 for three consecutive sessions as an active working journalist. In addition, he was a prominent architect, stage and cine actor, dramatist, literary figure, efficient translator and a noted social activists who contributed much to Lakhimpur district with his multifaceted talents. Every year, NLPC has observed his birthday on May 9 in a befitting manner as Bhaskarya aru Shilpar Din since he was alive. The commemoration programme this year too on Sunday began with the lighting of earthen lamp in front of the portrait of Nanda Kishor Maheswari by NLPC president Sailen Baruah under the management of secretary Karuna Krishna Nath. Then the members of the NLPC and Lakhimpur district headquarter journalists paid floral tribute to the portrait of the multifaceted personality with profound reverence.
