JAMUGURIHAT: The 74th Raising Day of National Cadet Corps (NCC) was observed with a day-long programme at Dakhin Nagsankar High School on Sunday.
The programme began with hoisting of the NCC flag by Navin Singh, the Superintendent of Police, Biswanath, followed by the march-past performed by the NCC cadets of the school. The open session was held in the conference hall of the school with Ballav Chapagain, headmaster in the chair.
Addressing the open session as a chief guest, Biswanath SP Navin Singh said the role of NCC towards the nation-building process was praiseworthy. He also motivated cadets to join the NDA (National Defence Academy) and other allied arm forces. SP Singh also provided basic information on how to be an APS-IPS officer. He encouraged the students to join the police force. Dr Chinta Mani Sarmah, Principal of Biswanath College, graced the occasion as an appointed speaker. During his address, Dr Sarmah provided basic information on how to join IMA (Indian Military Academy), NDA (National Defence Academy) and other armed forces. He also traced the glorious history of NCC since its inception.
The event was also addressed by Nayan Mani Saikia, Associate NCC Officer of Nagsankar HS, as guest of honour. Anjan Baskota, Associate NCC Officer of Dakhin Nagsankar High School, conducted the proceedings of the session.
The NCC Raising Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of November every year in India.
