KOKRAJHAR: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of India's Independence, Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Labour and Employment, Government of India, on Wednesday felicitated 75 citizens from Chirang and Bongaigaon districts, who have made significant contributions to the society and country through their personal efforts.
Minister Teli was on a two-day visit to Bongaigaon and Chirang on November 16 and November 17, 2021. Upon arrival on November 16, he was accorded a warm welcome by Sidhartha Protim Baruah, Executive Director (ED) & Refinery Head (RH), Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR). Then he held a meeting with senior officials of BGR, in which a presentation made on BGR was presented to him.
The interaction session saw the presence of Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), MLA of Sidli Constituency, Jayanta Basumatary, Virendra Mittal, Personal Secretary to minister Teli, Narendra Kumar Shah, Deputy Commissioner, Chirang, Pranjit Borah, Superintendent of Police, Chirang among others.
During the meeting, Teli reviewed the performance of BGR with particular focus on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of BGR. While appreciating the good work carried out by the refinery in CSR, he also made valuable suggestion to enhance the CSR projects for creating greater impact in the region. He added that Indian Oil has not only been fuelling the nation but has also always stood by the nation in times of national crisis and served it through its community development activities. He assured extending full support to BGR for its capacity enhancement project. Members of Indian Oil Officers' Association, BGR unit and BGR Employees' Union also accorded him a warm welcome.
On Wednesday also, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of progressive India, Minister of State Rameswar Teli felicitated 75 citizens of Chirang and Bongaigaon districts, who have made significant contribution to the society with their activities in diverse sectors like health, social, journalism, agriculture, education and culture.
Speaking on the occasion, Teli congratulated them and spoke about the various steps undertaken by his ministry in the oil and gas sector for the state of Assam. He informed about the planning of his ministry for the expansion of Bongaigaon Refinery, setting up of oil bulk depot (reservoir) at Dangtal and mini food processing centre in BTR. In his speech, he also exhorted on e-Shram portal for registration of unorganized workers to ensure their overall welfare.
