75 saplings of Agor plant planted in Nagaon district of Assam

Coinciding with the finale of celebration of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme to commemorate 75th years of India’s Independence

NAGAON: Coinciding with the finale of celebration of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme to commemorate 75th years of India’s Independence, the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign from August 9 to August 15, a heartfelt initiative to honour the martyred braveheart men and women of the country is being celebrated in the Nagaon district.

As part of this celebration, the Vasudha Vandan –creation of Amrit Vatika with 75 saplings of indigenous trees programme for Nagaon urban area –was held on Sunday in the presence of Nagaon MLA Rupak Sarma at the site of the under construction Dr Bhupen Hazarika Kalatirtha.

During the programme, 75 saplings of saasi (agor) plant were planted around the premise. This Amrit Vatika Shthapan programme is also being organized in every gaon panchayat across the district. The programme was also attended by the chairperson of Nagaon Municipality Board, Ambika Mazumdar, ward commissioners of Nagaon Municipal Board, ADC Phyllis V L Hrangchal, Executive Officer of Nagaon Municipal Board, Shilpi Pandit, and others.
