Mangaldai Police Recover 78 Stolen Water Pumps, Arrest 3 Thieves

MANGALDAI: Mangaldai Police, in a significant achievement, has recovered a huge number of stolen articles and arrested three hardcore thieves in this connection. In view of the rampant stealing of water pumps and other appliances from academic institutions and individual residences, a team of Mangaldai Police led by Officer in Charge Inspector Mukut Kakati intensified its operation and arrested one notorious thief namely Pankaj Deka of Outala area of Darrang district which led to the arrest of two notorious criminals namely Kalyan Deka of Outala and Ghanashyam Deka alias Tezpuria of Gerimari area of Mangaldai on June 17.

Significantly, Ghanashyam Deka has been arrested from Mazbat in Udalguri district while he was travelling in a train towards Rangapara to avoid the Mangaldai Police. The police has recovered a total of 78 water pumps, one microphone, one amplifier box, four batteries, two printers and two monitors, one tablet and one domestic cylinder from their possession.

The arrested criminal trio have been booked in connection with Mangaldai PS Case no. 323/2023 u/s 457/380 IPC and forwarded them to Judicial custody at Mangaldai Jail after their production before the Judicial court here. Mention may be made here that the arrested criminal Ghanashyam Deka was earlier arrested in 1997 in different places of Darrang district. The volunteers and members of Village Defence Organization have played a lead role in making their arrest.
