7th edition of Falcon Festival 2021 begins in Haflong

The two-day Falcon Festival organized by NC Hills Autonomous Council started with the inauguration by Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa in presence of a huge gathering on Friday.

HAFLONG: The two-day Falcon Festival organized by NC Hills Autonomous Council started with the inauguration by Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa in presence of a huge gathering on Friday. The festival is aimed to create awareness on protection and preservation of Amur Falcon which comes here in the new Tungbung area during October to November every year and stay for one month.

CEM Gorlosa was accompanied by Executive Members, Nojit Hojai, Ratan Jarambusa, L Darnei, MAC J S Durung, Chief Conservator of Forest M Tungnung, Principal Secretary M Kemprai. In this connection, a meeting was held wherein CCF Tungnung in his welcome speech informed that this year the number of birds were very large than that of earlier years which means the people have become aware of the protection of these birds as their guests.

CEM Gorlosa said this festival was aimed to create awareness among the people about the Amur Falcon, a kind of migratory bird that comes to the district once in a year during the winter season. He has also invited everyone to come & witness the festival and experience the cultural, traditional, ethnic cuisine, musical extravaganza.

Joshring Daophonglo, convenor of the festival said, "This year people's response is very encouraging. Tourists from various states are expected to attend the festival." Earlier all the guests were felicitated by a traditional gamosa. A memento of the Forest department was also released.
