8 drinking water projects under Jal Jeevan Abhiyan inaugurated in Dhubri

Eight drinking water projects were inaugurated in the rural area, completed by Public Health Engineering under Jal Jeevan Abhiyan recently.

DHUBRI: Eight drinking water projects were inaugurated in the rural area, completed by Public Health Engineering under Jal Jeevan Abhiyan recently. The eight drinking water projects are at Golokganj, Agomoni, Asharikandi, Gauripur, Devitala, Bilasipara, Chapor and Kaldoba which were inaugurated on the same day.

Officials PHE claimed that out of 883 approved drinking water projects, work was going on for 125, which were nearing completion soon. While addressing a function organized in connection with the inauguration of the drinking water projects, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anbamathun MP said that with these projects, drinking water would be supplied to 311 households while National Water Quality Sub Mission would provide water through tap to 1,092 houses.

"In Dhubri, there is target of supplying drinking water to 3 lakh households, of which presently water is being supplied to 16,000. Under the Jal Jeevan Abhiyan, old drinking water supply stations are being modernized with the installment of new equipment in addition to setting up new pump stations in order to supply drinkable water to each and every household," Anbamathun MP added.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that works for supplying drinking water as planned, was going on a war footing and would be completed within the time frame.
