81 revenue villages affected by flood in Dibrugarh; rescue operations underway

DIBRUGARH: A total of 81 revenue villages and 7 wards under 3 revenue circles like Chabua, Dibrugarh East, Dibrugarh West, Moran and Tengakhat have been affected by floodwater of the Brahmaputra and Buridihing rivers. Water in both the rivers has been flowing above the danger level. On Saturday, the ring bundh of the Brahmaputra was breached at Mohnaghat on the outskirts of Dibrugarh town. As a result two hundred families were shifted to safer places. As many as 57,375 people have been affected due to flood, out of which 1,397 people have been shifted to 10 relief camps set up under Chabua Revenue circle and Dibrugarh West Revenue circles.

Rescue operations under the district administration have been continuing in several parts of the flood affected areas in the district and till date, Inland Water Transport boats have rescued 825 people from Chabua Revenue Circle. 14 Medical Teams have been posted at different places in flood affected areas in the district. The District Administration distributed 610.866 quintal rice, 109.616 quintal pulses, 32.8702 quintal salt and other essential items among flood affected people on Sunday.
