89th Nalbari Raas Mahotsav Underway in Sri Sri Hari Mandir Complex

Several dignitaries were present for the official start of the festival.

NALBARI: The 89th edition of the famous Raas Mahotsav of the Nalbari district of the state of Assam began on November 7. This year's festival will be hosted as a 13 day mega celebration.

The opening ceremony of this year's festival was itself a very grand program. It started with the traditional hoisting of a flag at the event venue. Among several dignitaries, the Minister of Tourism and Skill Development of the Government of Assam and local Member of Parliament Jayanta Mallabaruah was also present for the opening event. The president of the temple management committee of the Sri Sri Hari Mandir, Ashok Sharma was also present for the event.

" Nalbari has become well known for its Raas Festival held at the historic Sri Sri Hari Mandir. I am delighted and proud to host the flag of this Rasotsav, a meeting place of different ethnic groups. Since being elected as the President of the 89th Ras Festival Celebration Committee, I have been trying my best to organize this event beautifully in every way. I would like to ask for everyone's cooperation to make this festival a success," mentioned the minister.

He also participated in the religious and cultural procession taken out to mark the occasion. It started from the grounds of the historic Gordon School and passed through the streets of Nalbari. Pabindra Kumar Nath, the Superintendent of Police of the Nalbari District flagged off this procession.

The traditional lamp was lit by the Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari District, Gitimoni Phukan. The celebration was officially opened by Devananda Deb Goswami, the Satradhikar or head priest of the Bardowa Narwa Satra in the Nagaon district of Assam.

Several dignitaries were present for the opening ceremony of this festival. Some of them were Ministers of the Assam Cabinet Chandra Mohan Patowary and Pijush Hazarika. BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Brahma was also present along with Queen Oja, the Member of Parliament from Guwahati.
