8th International Day of Yoga celebrated with enthusiasm in Assam

GUWAHATI: Along with the rest of the world, Guwahati Refinery also took part in the observance of 8th International Day of Yoga on Tuesday through a Yoga session organized at Jubilee Hall in sector III Township.

Reiterating commitment and enthusiasm for ensuring a healthy life, a large number of employees took part in the Yoga session which was conducted by a local Yoga Guru. The session was attended by SP Singh, Executive Director & Refinery Head, senior officials and a large number of employees. The Yoga session focused on some of the breathing exercises along with some easy asanas like Pranayama and Kapalbhati, besides elucidating their importance and benefits to body as well as to our minds.

Meanwhile, three employees of Guwahati Refinery also took part in the Yoga program organized by Kamrup (metro) district administration at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.

The 8th International Yoga Day, 2022 was celebrated with zeal and fervour by Sashastra Seema Bal, Frontier Headquarter, Guwahati at all its units under the guidance of Sanjeev Sharma, Inspector General, SSB, Frontier Guwahati. The theme for this year's Yoga Day was 'Yoga for Humanity'.

A series of Yoga events were organized for the last one month at 31st Bn Gossaigaon, 6th Bn Ranighuli, 15th Bn Kajalgaon, 54th Bn Bijni, 64th Bn Barama, 27th Bn Howly, 24th Bn Rangia and 1st Bn Sonapur under Frontier Guwahati as part of preparation for the 8th International Yoga Day culminating today. Many civic societies participated in the event with the SSB personnel to make the whole event a great success.

Regional Science Centre, Guwahati celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day in its premises with activities involving children, teachers, parents, staff members and others. The celebration of Yoga Day aims to raise awareness among the people for the benefits of practicing Yoga. The programmes started with Yoga practice under guidance of Yoga experts from Vivekananda Kendra, Institute of Culture, Guwahati. Thereafter, a popular lecture was presented by Surendra Hing, Yoga specialist from Vivekananda Kendra, Institute of Culture. As a part of the Yoga Day, children participated in art and poster competition held just after the lecture. The programme ended with prize distribution.

Frontier Headquarters Border Security Force, Guwahati observed 8th International Yoga Day to spread awareness among the masser about the importance of Yoga. The 8th International Yoga Day was organized under the leadership of Daniel Adhikari, Deputy Inspector General (Principal Staff Officer), Frontier Headquarter Border Security Force, Guwahati at Pandu Ghat on the banks of Brahmaputra River near Saraighat in which officers, subordinate officers and jawans participated enthusiastically in large numbers.

Daniel Adhikari, while explaining the importance of Yoga said, "It is a matter of pride for us that the whole world has accepted the Indian art of Yoga which keeps the mind and body healthy. Continuous practice of yoga in our daily life establishes control over mind, body and speech. Regular yoga practice helps in keeping our body fit and healthy and also helps in improving physical efficiency and mental peace as well as reducing stress and depression."
