94 licensed arms users in Nalbari district: CM Himanta

Replying to MLA Teras Gowala’s question in the Assam Assembly on August 9, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on behalf of the Home Department, said that a total of 19,145 arms licenses had been issued in the State.

NALBARI: Replying to MLA Teras Gowala's question in the Assam Assembly on August 9, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on behalf of the Home Department, said that a total of 19,145 arms licenses had been issued in the State. Among them, 94 licensed arms users are from Nalbari district.

In order to apply for arm gun license in Assam, the applicant has to apply in the Arms licensing branch of the Deputy Commissioner (District magistrate)'s office. Competent authorities make through assessments regarding threat based requirements of the arms by the applicant, capabilities of use, safe handling of the arms by the applicant, physical fitness of the applicant for handling the arms, background, antecedent and the report is sent to the respective department. On satisfactory ground based on the above process, the filled Arms License Book is issued to the applicant.
