SILCHAR: This is the story of a housewife Helen Dangal of Dohalia Faridkona GP under Patharkandi block of Karimganj district who has always aspired to be in health services to help those who need it for their wellness. Now she has got a call from a Medical College of Great Britain for her reputation for dedicated services at her present place of work, Patharkandi Model Hospital. She is the only general nursing and midwifery from northeast to get posting at government Medical College under National Health Services, U.K.

Helen Dangal qualified for the foreign assignment on the basis of her merit and abilities to serve patients, general and critical. Quite happy with the challenging job in a foreign country, Helen left from the remote corner of northeast for UK on July 2. Her husband Surajit Chhetri is delighted at her new job and is confident she will prove her mettle there also.

Surajit chettri said a few months back Helen went to Kerala to appear for the Occupational Examination Test in which candidates from 52 different countries participated. Helen was the only candidate from northeast. She secured the qualifying marks to secure her placement in UK. Helen hails from Tumejang village of Dima Hasao District. Born in a poor family, she has been meritorious in her studies. People of Patharkandi are proud of her.
