A Role Model for Younger Generation

DHEMAJI: A young man named Bhaben Haloi of Dhemaji Nilakh Torani Pathar has become a role model for the younger generation. The youth scientifically started cultivating ghost pepper with some youths from the village in a single attempt on about 30 bighas of land on the banks of the Gainadi River. Bhaben Haloi brings quality saplings of ghost pepper from Nagaland and Dimapur.

The ghost chilli produced by Bhaben Haloi, has created a stir in the entire region as well as Dhemaji district. He has been initiating the process of exporting the ghost pepper to Bhutan. A private company in Bhutan has signed an MoU with young farmer Bhaben Haloi along with his fellow farmers with a promise to buy ghost pepper (bhut chilli) worth Rs 1 crore. Also known as a young farmer, struggling leader, Bhaben Haloi has started strawberry cultivation on about 10-12 bighas of land. He has also cultivated watermelon on the sands of Gainadi river. He has now captured the market at the national and international levels. In fact, at present tourists come from many places to see his systematic farming system. He informed that students are now coming from local schools, colleges and agricultural universities. They have set out a plan to farm mushrooms and pigs in a different way.
