At a time when thousands of teachers are protesting against the government in demand of regularization of jobs and other issues, there is a school in Sonari which is run by just two teachers. This school, Manjushree Primary School has more than 200 students and has only two teachers to teach and operate the school. It is for this shortage of teachers that the school is being opened and shut as per the convenience of the teachers.
The school, located in Sonari has a total of 236 students but the irony is that there are not many teachers to be capable of providing education to the students. As per reports, there are six teachers in the school but the headteacher of the school is being entrusted with NRC duties by the government. This leaves the school with five teachers. What is more worrisome is that another teacher of the school has even left coming to the school for the last five years. There is no news and no attendance of the teacher for a single day in these last five years. Eventually, the students are attaining lessons from two teachers only. These two teachers, running the school, are doing their job without being paid for their job.
The teachers, helpless at times, are compelled to shut the school as at times they cannot keep control on their classes and its students. Hence, the result is that sometimes they keep the school closed at 11 in the morning. This has thus, put a negative impact on the education of the students as the chapters of the students are not made clear in the absence of teachers.
