On November 8, 2021, the saga of a humble and jovial man came to an end. This humble man I am referring to is DrAnanta Kumar Bhattacharyya, who was born on 1 August 1,1948 as the eighth child to Harendra Kumar Bhattacharyya, the renowned Mathematician of the time and Hemalata Devi at Ujanbazar, Guwahati. As a student of Cotton Collegiate school, he went on to become an MBBS doctor from Gauhati Medical College and accomplished his DPH degree from Calcutta University. As a doctor employed by the Government of Assam, he worked almost all over Assam, including the state's remote areas—Haflong, Majuli and retired as a Joint Director, Health Service on 31 July 2007. A lover of old music and Bollywood cinemas, he spent his leisure time listening to music and reading books. He was so simple that post his retirement, he never opted to open a private chamber and earn; instead, he chose to glue to his hobbies. His biological body perhaps decayed faster than his chronological years compelling him to submit to medical complications. He leaves behind his wife Iva Barthakur Bhattacharyya, his only son, Manash Kumar Bhattacharyya and daughter-in-law, Putul Bhattacharyya and grandchild, Master Vivan Kumar Bhattacharyya. On the day of his Adya Sraddha, I offer my humble obeisance to the departed soul. May his divine soul rest in eternal peace.
