AAJYCS condoles demise of SC Development Council president

LAKHIMPUR: The central committee of Asom Anusuchit Jati Yuva Chatra Santha (AAJYCS) expressed profound grief at the demise of Nityananda Phukan, the chairperson of Scheduled Caste Development Council. Phukan breathed his last on Wednesday morning at his own residence located at Milan Nagar in Dibrugarh.

In a press communiqué, AAJYCS State president Nripen Das and secretary Nityananda Das said that Nityananda Phukan, as the chairperson of SC Development Council, had rendered relentless service for the well-being of the Scheduled Castes, though the Council concerned could not attain any government grant till day.

"Born at an outreach village named Dihing Than Gaon in Dibrugarh district, Nityananda Phukan achieved several designations such as Zila Parishad member, general secretary of Dibrugarh District Congress Committee, general secretary of Asom Anusuchito Jati Parishad and then as chairperson of SC Development Council in 2015. He was well-known as a popular revolutionary leader. He had extended tremendous contribution towards the betterment of the Scheduled Castes. At his demise, we have lost a fighter, which is an irreparable loss for the caste," the press communiqué stated.

The dignitaries of the organization extended their condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
