AAMSU stages protest against price hike across Assam

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU) initiated stir against the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities across the State. In this regard, as per the directive of the central committee, the activists of the organization staged two-hour long sit-in in North Lakhimpur town on Thursday in front of the Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner's office. Before starting the protest, the organization paid deep tribute to the Bharat Ratna, Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on the occasion of his 9th death anniversary.

While staging the protest programme, the protesters flayed Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury alleging his comprehensive failure with regard to controlling the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities in the State which has severely affected the common and low-earning people. The organization later submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding his effective steps to control the growing prices on essential commodities immediately. The organization demanded the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister to step down owing to his comprehensive failure with regard to controlling price hike.

Bongaigaon: Demanding control on price hike, the All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU), Bongaigaon district committee staged a demonstration on Thursday in front of the DC office, Bongaigaon. Addressing the gathering, Hazarat Ali from Bongaigaon AAMSU said that the government should control the price hike immediately and fix the prices of essential commodities. "Otherwise we will be compelled to adopt the path of agitation," he said. Several leaders of the organization were present in this protest programme. They submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner. On the other hand, AAMSU North Salmara committee also staged demonstration on Thursday in front of North Salmara Civil SDO office.
