Lakhimpur: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) accorded warm felicitations to the meritorious students of the district, who passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam and Higher Secondary (HS) Final exam in Arts Science and Commerce streams with flying colors this year. On this occasion, a special programme, titled as 'Abhinandan' was organized by the organization like the previous years in the auditorium of the Lakhimpur district library. The event, which was chaired by Lakhimpur district AASU president Simanta Neog, kick-started with a chorus song. Lakhimpur district AASU general secretary Swaraj Sankar Gogoi explained the objective of the programme. It was inaugurated by AASU central committee executive member Dhanmoni Dutta. AASU central committee general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah graced the occasion as chief guest. Sankor Jyoti Baruah encouraged the students to dream and transform the dreams into reality with hard work. He also asked them to go ahead in life with honesty and social responsibility. Inspector of Schools Dr Ramesh Chandra Chutia and the Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College, Dr Lohit Hazarika attended the event as guests of honour and delivered an encouraging lecture addressing the students. On the other hand, Principal of Lakhimpur Girls' College, Dr. Surajit Bhuyan released Buddhidroom, the regular publication of Lakhimpur district AASU. The organization felicitated a total of 554 meritorious students, including the rank holders of the HSLC and HS exams from the district in the event.
