NALBARI: Demanding an increase in the student-intake capacity of the Higher Secondary schools (HSS) and also colleges of Nalbari district, the Nalbari unit of AASU (All Assam Students' Union) submitted a memorandum to the Assam Education Minister through the Nalbari Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday.

The AASU delegation was led by the organization's district president Gunajyoti Pathak, general secretary Akshay Deka and education secretary Chandan Bezbaruah.

With the unprecedented pass percentage in the recent HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) and HS (Higher Secondary) results, the student community in general is facing problems in the admission process. The district HSS and colleges don't have adequate seat capacity to absorb the students.

The AASU has pointed out that just an increase of 20 or 25 seats will not be enough to tackle the emerging crisis this year. They also demanded infrastructural development of the schools and colleges.
