GAURISAGAR: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Konwerpur Regional Unit of Sivasagar district recently submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar for setting up a police outpost at Konwerpur. Konwerpur is a vast area on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district and Sivasagar Sadar police station has been controlling law and order there. Gujkota and Roumari are remote areas about 30 km away from Sivasagar sadar police station. As a result, frequent law-and-order problems arise in the greater Konwerpur area. Besides, as the area is vast and scattered, sometimes police fail to reach on time due to limited police personnel and lack of police outpost. Frequent cattle theft, robbery and theft cases are reported in the area. Besides, the illicit liquor business is also going on.

In order to ensure protection and safeguard of people's lives and properties, the AASU Konwerpur Regional Unit urged upon the Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar to set up a police outpost at Konwerpur. A memorandum was submitted in this regard.
