ABITA organizes virtual training on COVID-19 for medical officers, nurses

TINSUKIA: The Assam branch of Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone1organized the second series of virtual training on capacity building in COVID-19 context for medical officers and nurses of tea garden managed hospitals in support with UNICEF Assam on November 3-November 4 where 33 medical officers and 66 General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) from 62 TEs of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo districts under ABITA Zone1 participated.

The training programme was facilitated by the health specialists and consultants from health sector UNICEF Assam. The training especially focussed on maternal health management and newborn care during COVID time with a view to taking care of mothers and children in tea garden hospitals. The training modules also helped the frontline medical workers to protect themselves from potentially exposed infected patients. The training also covered topics pertaining to bio-medical waste disposal, maternal health management and immunization during COVID-19 pandemic.

MadhurjyaBarooah, secretary ABITA Zone 1 Dibrugarh, while expressing gratitude to all medical officers and nurses for participation, informed that the first batch of such virtual training was held on October 5-October 6 where 26 medical officers and 52 nurses from 30 tea estates under Zone 1, 2 & 3 participated. Such endeavours on the part of ABITA will continue for the well-being of the garden employees and workers, Barooah said.
