SILCHAR: While Assam police is vigilant and active to thwart any attempt by peddlers and mafia to smuggle in contraband goods from Myanmar, Assam Rifles, on the other hand, has been carrying on sustained awareness campaign against drug abuse in the rural areas of Cachar-Manipur border. Its drive among youths is focused on educating them about the baneful effects of drug and narcotic substances. They are being cautioned no more to take to drugs, the best way to stay fit and live a healthy life.
The campaign has in the meantime covered the villages of Barabekra, Lalpani, Dholakhal and Guakhal in Manipur and 85 villagers, mostly youths, have been brought under its coverage. They have been enlightened about the societal problems that arise from the consumption of illicit drugs. Along with that, these youths take oath to 'Say no to drugs and stay fit.'
Abiding by COVID protocol, Assam Rifles, Kadamtala Battalion, under the aegis of Headquarter 21 Sector and Inspector General (East) has virtually made a place of admiration among the rural folk who welcome them and appreciate their hard labour just for the sake of the better and happier life of all. The attitude and behaviour of Assam Rifles brave jawans have made the accessible to each and every corner of the border states of Assam and Manipur.
