KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) on Friday welcomed the nomination of Biswajit Daimary as the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, and hoped that Daimary would be able handle the State's proceeding in the proper manner.

In a press meet held at Bodofa House here, the general secretary of the ABSU, Khanindra Basumatary said that the ABSU was happy to know that Biswajit Daimary, who won from Paneri constituency of Udalguri, had been nominated as the Speaker of the Assam Assembly. He said that the student body had lot of expectations from the new State Government headed by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as Chief Minister towards solution of long-pending issues of the Bodos, including proper implementation of BTR Accord. He also said the Bodo medium education, development of BTR and security among all sections of society had to be given due attention by the new government.

Basumatary thanked the new government of Assam led by Dr. Sarma for nominating Biswajit Daimary as the Speaker and hoped that Daimary would take proactive role in proper implementation of BTR Accord, besides handling the State's affairs in a comprehensive way.
