KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) expressed gratitude to the Government of Assam for holding the State Cabinet meeting at Kokrajhar.
The president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro said that during his visit to Thulungapuri, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation for the infrastructure development of Thulungapuri and announced that March 31,the birthday of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, would be observed as Students' Day in the state of Assam as demanded by ABSU. He said the Cabinet meeting had taken some historic decisions for the development of Bodo medium education in the State.
The key decisions passed by the Assam cabinet are introduction of Bodo medium for Class XI and XII from next academic session, single cadre-based roster for Bodo department posts in higher education, which will be enacted in the ensuing assembly session of Assam Government, and provincialization of 10 degree colleges out of 26 degree colleges in BTR in phase one as per. 6.3 clause of the BTR accord.
For these key decisions by the Cabinet, the ABSU extended gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and all the Cabinet ministers of Assam. The ABSU hoped that all the pending BTR accord-related clauses and other demands would be fulfilled in future.
