KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) on Friday expressed anguish over Bodoland University (BU) for failing to issue grade sheets to students who have completed TDC and warned that the union would be compelled to launch protest if the university authority failed to issue grade sheet before the Puja vacation.
Talking to reporters at Bodofa House, the vice-president of the ABSU, Kwrwmdao Wary said the student body had already discussed the issue with the authority earlier but there had been no action till date. He said the BU must issue grade sheets of 6th semester TDC final result as most of the students had not been able to take admission in other universities due to lack of grade sheets. He demanded that BU must issue the grade sheet before the Puja vacation or else ABSU would be bound to democratically stage dharna at BU when the university reopens on October 21.
Wary said the demand for an increase of 30 per cent intake seats in all departments had also been ignored by the BU. "The BU is the lone university in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and many students are waiting for admission. Most students have been unable to get admission in other universities outside the State due to COVID situation as well as non-issuance of grade sheets from BU to TDC pass students," he said, adding that the union would not compromise with the future of students.
The ABSU has sought immediate appointment of a regular Registrar for Bodoland University with the intervention of the Governor and Chancellor of the university. The student body also demanded intervention of the Chief Minister of Assam to resolve all the issues of BU for the welfare of students and development of the university.
