Kokrajhar: The Kokrajhar District Committee of All Bodo Students Union demanded district administration to take stern action against in the matter of Rare Sexual Crimes, Melas, Musical Nights, DJs, Cultural Programmes and etc. under Kokrajhar District. The Union submitted a memorandum to Partha Patim Mazumdar Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar on Friday.
Janak Uzir president and Swmdwn Brahma general secretary of the ABSU said that the union has submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar to take stern action against social activities in the district.
Union said that as you are aware that currently, some events like attacking the girls and women by breaking through the houses at Kokrajhar Town and committing rare sexual crimes have been frequently occurring these days.
Unfortunately, it is to be mentioned with great concern that on 12th August 2019, at H. Villa Paying Guest at Baganshali, at midnight, some unidentified miscreants, entered the room by breaking the ventilation and surprisingly, even without the slightest notice of the girls made some sexual videos when they were asleep. After that incident, a lot of apprehensions has emerged in the mind of the common people as to the safety and security of any girl staying in any paying guest at Kokrajhar town.
They said that apart from that, after the event of molestation of two girls, six months back, who was coming from Baganshali to catch a train, at about 5.00 A.M, the safety and security of the womenfolk at Kokrajhar Town has seemed to be very uncertain.
Further, at the same time, the Union would like to bring to your notice that Un-Seasonal Melas, in the name of Pujas, Musical Nights, DJs, Cultural Programmes and etc. has been organized, one after another at various places, causing unnecessary wastage of time and money to the student communities without having regard to the interest of the students. Further, it creates intolerable public noise to the residents of adjacent places of Melas which may also become the nuisance for the students during their study. The selling and extensive use of intoxicating substances, even by some boys of tender age is found within the Mela premises posing trouble for their physical and mental health resulting in poor concentration in their study. The scene of riding bike with over-speed by the school going children on the public road is seen frequently around the Mela premises causing inconvenience to the passers-by and many unnoticed anti-social and criminal activities crept in during these Melas, inside and outside the Mela premises that do not come under the direct notice of police and society.
Under these circumstances, Kokrajhar District Committee, ABSU, so as to stand for the public good, especially for the girls/women, would like to pray your honour to take the following necessary steps as follows to check the governing rules for running of the paying guests,to check the security measure available in the paying guests, to install CCTV at necessary places (from security point of view), to maximize Police personnel and to use advance investigation equipments to trace out the culprits, to stop giving permission to hold Melas, they added.
