Accused in POCSO case Wazid Hussain surrenders, suspended from service

In a swift turn of events in the POCSO case, the prime accused, Wazid Hussain, an employee of Nazarat branch in the Tinsukia DC’s office - who allegedly committed sexual abuse on his step-daughter - has been placed under suspension by the District Commissioner of Tinsukia after Hussain did not respond to the show-cause notice issued to him.

TINSUKIA: In a swift turn of events in the POCSO case, the prime accused, Wazid Hussain, an employee of Nazarat branch in the Tinsukia DC’s office - who allegedly committed sexual abuse on his step-daughter - has been placed under suspension by the District Commissioner of Tinsukia after Hussain did not respond to the show-cause notice issued to him. He was booked under 166A/342/354A/506/509/34 of IPC, RW Section 8/17/18 and registered under case no 518/2023. Though he was absconding for the last few days, Hussain, after finding no way out, surrendered before the Tinsukia police on Friday.

Meanwhile, Tinsukia police also apprehended two persons who attempted to lure the victim child with money and other lucrative offers to withdraw the case. The police on being informed immediately swung into action and brought them to the police station. They have been identified as Mir Akhtar Hussain and Netra Chetri. The former is the vice president of Tinsukia District Congress Committee.
