TINSUKIA: In an unexpected volte-face much to the dismay of several aspirants, Rupesh Gowala, the general secretary of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) who joined the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on Saturday afternoon has been allotted Doomdooma LAC seat. His entry took many by surprise leaving high and dry for the Congress that likely to suffer a major jolt in forthcoming election.

When asked about his association with the ACMS to which he still holds the post, Gowala told media persons that though ACMS is affiliated to the INTUC, the organization is being run by the contribution of tea workers and 'does not belong to any political party including Congress'. He firmly said that the BJP would hoist the flag in Doomdooma, an erstwhile bastion of the Congress. He was accorded a heroic welcome by the supporters of BJP on his arrival at Doomdooma on Sunday.
