Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani visits Majia FPC fields in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Additional Chief Secretary and APC Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani visited the fields of Majia Farmers Producer Company (FPC) at Pukhiajhar village under Bindukuri Agricultural Circle in Sonitpur district. Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani was accompanied by CEO, Sonitpur Zila Parishad, Karabi Saikia, Joint Director of North Zone of Agriculture Department, Pabitra Sarma, District Agriculture Officer, Pankaj Saikia, District Assistant Commissioner and officers and employees of Agriculture Department. The company, which consists of 310 progressive farmers including 130 women farmers, earned Rs 23.60 lakh from producing paddy seeds on 200 bighas of land last year and Rs 40 lakh this year from producing paddy seeds on 2000 bighas of land this year. In addition, the company has been able to earn lakhs of rupees from the cultivation of paddy, potatoes, mustard etc. Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani observed the overall aspects of the FPC and interacted with the farmers. Dr Bhutani advised the farmers to cultivate different crops according to the seasons on the same land and tractors, combine harvesters, mini combine harvesters, rotavators, seed and fertilizer applicators, briquetting machines etc. provided to the FPC through various schemes of the agriculture department. He urged them to engage in agriculture with enthusiasm. Dr Bhutani also interacted with the farmers present regarding the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Sanman Nidhi (PM Kisan) Scheme and the government and the agriculture department will provide assistance to the FPC in the coming days.
