Administration all set to conduct DAC polls in Margherita constituency

TINSUKIA: The Margherita sub-divisional administration has completed all preparedness to hold the Deori Autonomous Election (DAC) in the lone 03 Margherita (ST) constituency on November 8.

Altogether four candidates, namely Jogen Deori (BJP) Khogeswar Deori (INC), Heremba Kr. Deori and Bimal Deori, both as Independent candidates, are in the fray. A total of 1,574 voters (803 female and 771 male) will exercise their franchise in five different polling stations. The votes will be counted on November 10 in the Office of the SDO (Civil) Margherita.

Ashwini Kumar Doley, who was appointed as the General Observer, addressed all the cell in-charges constituted for the election, the election agents and representatives of different political parties on Friday in a meeting held at office of the SDO(c), Margherita.

Doley elaborated in detail all the points like MCC, maintenance of Expense Register etc. to be ensured by the contesting candidates. He further stressed obtaining permission for any kind of campaign, vehicles and to adhere to all the protocols as per the government guidelines and not to engage in any foul play during this period, failing which action will be taken by the administration.

The meeting was also attended by Circle Officer Runal Nath, Executive Magistrates- Pranta Pratim Patra and Siddhartha Sh. Sonowal, Election Officer Aditi Neog and other administrative officials.
