Guwahati:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma advised the minority community on Thursday to implement effective population control measures in order to decrease poverty and reduce additional burden on the land.
The Chief Minister emphasized that all members of the minority community should come up and help the administration in its efforts to eradicate poverty.
The Assam CM made some significant statements on the expulsion of minorities. He stated that the land was evicted in order for the family to grow, adding that small families do not evict the property.
A day will come when there will be a struggle among minorities over land due to population explosion, which will even result in the occupation of the Kamakhya Temple land, added the CM.
The Chief Minister also underlined the need of educating Muslim women during the press conference.
The Chief Minister urged the people to work with the government, claiming that the government is the custodian of all impoverished people.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The government is the guardian of all the poor, but they have to co-operate in population control, which is the main cause of poverty, illiteracy and lack of proper family planning."
According to Dr. Sarma, the government would endeavour to educate minority women in order to solve the problem. The Chief Minister urged the leaders of this community to support people working towards population control.
"The Assam government will take some steps to encourage people in population control. I am looking forward to working with AAMSU and AIUDF in this regard, "said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The chief minister paid a visit to Gorukhuti in Darrang district on Monday to survey riverine regions reportedly encroached upon by illegal immigrants near Dholpur Shiva Mandir.
According to Sarma's tweet, illegal inhabitants encroached on a total of 120 bigha land out of the temple's 180 bigha territory. He claimed that the site had been "freed by the police and district administration."
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the BJP-led Assam government is dedicated to defending the "state's land, identity, culture, language and heritage from encroachers and illegal migrants".
