AGP-BJP alliance candidate Prodip Hazarika wins Amguri Constituency

In no. 103 Amguri LAC, Prodip Hazarika of the Asom Gana Parishad-Bharatiya Janata Party (AGP-BJP) alliance won for the second consecutive term

GAURISAGAR: In no. 103 Amguri LAC, Prodip Hazarika of the Asom Gana Parishad-Bharatiya Janata Party (AGP-BJP) alliance won for the second consecutive term by defeating his nearest INC candidate Dr Angkita Dutta by a margin of 6179 votes.

While Prodip Hazarika polled 49,891 votes, Dr Angkita Dutta got 43,712 votes, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Chandra Baruah polled 6,987 votes, Prodip Hazarika (independent) received 1,022 votes and another independent candidate Rajkumar Duarah got 959 votes.

In 1957 and 1962, veteran RCPI leader Khagen Borbaruah was elected consecutively for two terms in Amguri LAC. After 40 years, Prodip Hazarika created history in electoral politics by winning the Amguri LAC seat for two consecutive terms.
