Agriculture cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur, Atul Bora takes stock of flood situation

LAKHIMPUR: Agriculture Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur, Atul Bora visited the district with day-long programmes on Monday. During the course of his visit, the minister took part in a slew of official programmes. As per the schedule, the minister at first inaugurated Bishnu Rabha Sangeet playing mobile van on the occasion of Bishnu Rabha Divas, organized by Cultural Affairs Department of Assam and Lakhimpur district administration with two day-long agenda. The team of the artistes carried by the van played Bishnu Rabha Sangeet arriving at several schools and colleges of the district. The programme will continue till Tuesday.

The minister then inaugurated two urban hospitals, Pashsim Chandmari Urban Hospital and Milan Nagar Urban Hospital, in North Lakhimpur town. Thereafter, the minister arrived at Madhupur Tea Estate, located at Ghilamora under Dhakuakhana subdivision. There the minister inaugurated the tea garden model high school. In the course of his lecture, the minister said, “The incumbent BJP-led Government of Assam has been working relentlessly to ensure equal development and dignity of all the tribes and communities of the State since the beginning. As part of such endeavours, the State government has initiated an epoch-making step to ensure quality education for the students belonging to tea garden workers.” He urged upon the guardians and parents of the students to create an academic environment in home too for the bright future of their children. Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan attended the event as guest of honour wherein Inspector of Schools, Lakhimpur, Hemkanta Saikia delivered the welcome address.

Then the minister attended a ceremonial programme, organized by Naoboicha Block Primary Health Centre and inaugurated the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Health Card issued to the beneficiaries under the BPHC. Later he visited the flood-affected areas under Naoboicha Revenue Circle and interacted with the affected people to take stock of the situation. He instructed the district administration to supply enough relief material among the flood-affected people. In the evening, the minister held a review meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office regarding flood management and current flood situation. The departmental heads of the district attended the review meeting. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka along with the Deputy Commissioner accompanied the minister during his visit to the district.
