'Ai jong lao ngi jong kham' observed in Charaideo district

GAURISAGAR: The Tai Ahom Sanskritik Parishad, Asom in association with the people of Lakwa under Charaideo district observed the traditional Tai Ahom festival to welcome the harvesting season 'Ai jong lao ngi jong kham' in Amlakhi Deoxal in Lakwa on Sunday with a daylong programme. Nang Man Ali Mohan, president of Tai Ahom Sanskritik Parishad, and Kamaljyoti Gogoi, president of the reception committee hoisted the flag in the morning.

Molung Uma Mohan did the tarpan while Ratul Gogoi and Krishnakanta Rajkonwar initiated the sapling plantation. The 'Khyek Lai Kho mi' worship was conducted by Molung Tileswar Mohan and Man Chao Sunil Kr Gogoi. Attending the religious function as the chief guest, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan inaugurated the new buildings and the roads built inside the Ahom era Deoxal. In his speech, he said that the government is striving hard to rebuild the heritage and religious sites of the state to augment the tourism potential. Deputy Commissioner Sivasagar Aditya Bikram Yadav in his speech said that the government can build infrastructure but keeping alive a heritage site is the work of the public. He said that the Chief Minister has already released Rs 1 crore for the Charaideo Development project.
